Dataquest-IDC survey of T-school in India – 2008

Here they are again … ranking of T-schools by Dataquest & IDC.

The them behind the rankings as always is … Rearrange the IIT’s, Place IIITs,some NITs
and other premier institutes in next 10 places. Then fill rest of the places randomly with the institutes left in hand.

Miscellaneous aspects of the survey:-
1. IIIT-H stood 3rd in placements and 7th over all this year, just behind the 6 IIT’s.

2. Fall in no. of participating institutes from 117 to 79 this year, although invitation was sent to 300 institutes.

3. Missing this year :- IIT-bombay, BITS-Pilani, NIT Trichi, Jadavpur University, PEC, IIIT-Gwalior, MANIT-Bhopal, DCE, ISM-Dhanbad, NIT-Suratkal, NIT and many more

4. The ranking is done keeping the 2006-07 placements as reference. Hence, the same Schlumberger 45 lac placement at NSIT stands as the highest placement of the year.

5. Interestingly, Bangalooru got maximum 10 institutes in top-79.

6. The list is flooded with the private institutes, most of the places under 30 are filled by them.

7. A Blooper :- On the Website DQ mentioned that they received data from 70 colleges. Although they listed 79 colleges.

PS: — IIIT-H got 3rd place based on 5.4 LPA average last year, I donno where it’ll go with 6.85 LPA average of this year.

Managemement Funda

Just came back to Hyderabad, after spending 2 long months at Delhi. Got chance to travel in Delhi’s legendary Blue line and Red line Bus service. Buses are no different from Hyderabad’s other than one fact. And that is …

Morning fare of the buses are 5 Rs. Higher than the evening fare, although the route remains same. And to my surprising every one was OK with it. Its like default rule there…

I couldn’t think of any probable reason other than exploiting the janta’s urge to reach their offices in time. So they got to take the first bus to their office. But in the evening they can afford to miss two or three buses for better fares.

So, management funda of the day is — Don’t miss any chance of exploiting the Junta …

PS: — Wht the F is happing with the House rents at Hyderabad … Two bedrooms at 18K …
